Hope you had a great cruise - we are thinking of doing exactly this in october so any comments would be really helpful. In particular did you fly out on the day and if so what time flight was it and did it leave you plenty time to get to the port? Or did you stay overnight prior to the cruise - if so where? Thank you.

ATVO Fly Bus (blue coach) This bus costs €3,00p and it has a luggage compartment underneath where the driver will stow your bags. The stop is located between the Arrivals terminal and the Departures area. (Caution: Buses for Padova and certain other locations are also blue, so look for the "Venezia" sign before boarding.) You can buy tickets at the ATVO counter in the arrivals hall (open 8 a.m. to midnight), from the ticket machines in the baggage-claim area, or from a ticket machine in the bus departure area. It will go to Piazzale Roma in around 25 mins. There is luggage storage place in PR - Look for a deposito bagagli, or left-luggage office, opposite the ACTV ticket office (next to the Pullman Bar).

Oh hang on a min - you say RyanAir - that goes to Treviso not Venice. So this is the tranfer you need: the easiest--and cheapest--way to get there is to take the connecting ATVO Eurobus service. Bus times coincide with Ryanair arrivals and departures, and the fare is much cheaper than a taxi: only €5 one-way or €9 return. (It's also much cheaper than another service, Shuttle Direct, which should be avoided unless you want to spend more money for ground transportation than you may have paid for your flight.) Purchase your ticket at the ATVO counter in the airport and stamp it in the ticket-validation machine on the bus. (If you need a ticket from Venice to Treviso Airport, go to the ATVO ticket office in the Piazzale Roma.) You'll need to allow 1 hour 10 minutes for the bus trip and it also ends in PR.

We booked our flights about 6 months before our cruise but I think they release flights sometimes upto a year before - I find the earlier you book the better the price! hope this helps .

The ship is usaully within walking distance of the bus station at Piazzale Roma.(Where you arrauive from the airport), But there is usaully a cheap/free shuttle bus anyway that runs from the far side of the bus station to the ship. We went on this cruuise last year and was amazed how easy it was to get to the ship from the airport. The deatsil already given about the bus from the airport are very accurate.

There is a map of Piazzale Roma on this site - and it shows where the 'free' shuttle bus is meant to stop. For us it never showed though and we ended up catching the normal 6/ bus (the / is important as there is also a 6 bus) to the port gates ...http://venicebanana.com/eng/maprom.htm.
