If you click the large yellow button at the top of this screen and select Freedom from the dropdown list of ships - you will get several reviews and opinions.

Freedom of the Seas is the best cruise ship I have ever been on closely followed by the Navigator then the Liberty, Brilliance and Legend with OV1, 2 and QM2 equal last just to give you an idea of the contenders. Freedon is the original Freedom Class RCI ship and as such took staff from the whole fleet and in 2007 had the best entertainment staff and acts we have encountered and best bar and resturant staff. It is a new plush ship with lovely art and decor. It carries loads of passengers but most of the time they spread across the ship well. Some areas do get busy at times but not to unbearable levels and there is a lot of deck space when the weather is good so don't wory about that one. We're reasonably active 40 somethings and never get bored on these mega ships. The balance of formality and relaxed holiday experience is good and the Royal Promenade makes navigating this vast resort reasonably easy. Just read the recent reviews of the Independance to see what people think of this class of ship, then imagine that plus the wonderful Caribbean. A tip though if you have yet to book try pricing cruise only and book flights and pre cruise hotels separately, you won't save a lot but you will find a better pre cruise hotel and yellow cabs make better transfers that the RCI arrangements.

By Josephine Wright

Hello fellow cruises, I have recently been checking what it would entail for me to take my grandson on a cruise ,and of course he has a different surname , If you are thinking of taking a child relative or not then it might be good to read on and check out what to do to avoid stress at the Port or Airport for that matter. If you are travelling with grandchildren or friends children or indeed your own child but they have a different surname to you on their passport, you need to take precautions...

Lovely Eclipse Weekend

By Lee Johnson

Lee Johnson's blog

I have just had a fantastic 2 night cruise on the wonderful Eclipse. The mini cruise was part of my month long 40th Celebrations and was a little getaway for me and my partner. It is the first time in 14 years that we have been away without the children and although we missed them we had such a great few days.We started the break by heading down to Southampton, which is a bit of a trek from Barrow-in-Furness but I find it no problem by rail. I would recommend staying over in Southampton the ...

Fred To Enter The River Market

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Fred Olsen have long been one of my favourite cruise lines, Braemar was the first ship I ever did a ” proper cruise”. When I say proper I mean not a mini cruise or ship visit as it was a 14 night Canary Islands sailing. In the last couple of years Braemar has been one of the lines ships that have started to do river cruising. Although in reality it is not really totally river cruising as the ships have been sailing from a UK port – Dover or Southampton.German Waterways sails ...
