How long is a piece of string.....! Do you gamble? A bottle of wine a night will run at around $35, a few beers in the day, and sodas for the kids, kids playing in the games arcade, cocktails in the evening, sun-downers at night, a few nights in the speciality restaurants, lunch in Johnny Rockets a few times, souvenir tee-shirts - how does $2,000 sound as a first stab?

No, you won't! You are gambling now that the dollar will become at least 5% or so more expensive by the end of your cruise than it is now (or at sometime during the year). You could earn at least 5% by putting those funds now into in a good savings account until your credit card bill becomes due. And there is no foreign exchange loading on a Nationwide credit card. Just a thought for you!

Why are you taking masses of cash when the norm on all cruise ships is to register your credit card(s)as is the normal procedure?

We will of course be using our credit card at the end, but even the credit card companies charge you commission for paying in $. We were planning on paying a lump sum in advance when we embark in $ as the rate is good at the mo. Thanks.
