I think the article you allude to was one concerning elvers, that is young eels, which congregate in the Sargasso Sea, by the Caribbean and have swum there from Europe. They then have to make their way back to Europe and up into the rivers, as adults to breed. An extremely interesting article it was too. If you had read it all you would have been as intrigued as I was ... Reginald.

So they got the date wrong? It should obviously have read "May 2008". They are obviously living in the past! Happy cruising.

I am frequently being asked if there is a kettle in the cabin and it is only really the British C...

I wish I had a pound for every time I have been asked this question. I could have sailed around the world in Luxury! Aah yes! but would I choose Port or Starboard for my cabin? Or left side versus the right side of the ship?I suppose it depends on where you’re headed. I know that quite a few seasoned cruisers swear by the Starboard side. Although it really depends on what type of cruise you are on.For instance, if you are sailing in one direction, North or West generally people pr...

My NON cruise holiday this Easter.

By Haydn Jones

Haydn Jones's blog

I’ve just come back from a family Easter holiday to Spain, surprisingly not on a cruise this time. My children are of the age where we have to go away during school holidays. We decided on Benalmadena, Spain as we have been before , its not too far, and the boys love it there. The weather was absolutely glorious, we were so lucky this time of year to have 10 days of boiling sunshine. Benalmdena is a town on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its beaches and the modern Pue...
