Q: we've just booked to go on the independence of the seas next October, we have 2 children and have opted for first sitting in the dining rooms, do we have to use this facility every night or do we just not turn up if we decide to eat else where? our recent princess cruise was different as we did any time dining, i realise this ship hasn't sailed yet but hope some one from a previous rcc ship will have some dining room answers. thanks!! 2 answers

We have done both early and late- our preferance is late sitting-If you have been ashore most of day we found that early sitting was a rush to get back to cabin / shower / change etc if we wanted to eat in main dinning room - so more often than not we opted for Jade / Windjammer / chops / portofinos - all v good but please be courtious to others that may be sharing your main dinning table and wait staff and inform them that you will not be attending then they are not waiting for you to arrive we would inform them night previous if we knew

You will eat in the main dining room at 6;15 every night at the same table with the same people. If you decide not to turn up then the alternative dining venues are the buffet called WindJammer, there is 24hr room service, there is an American Diner called Johnny Rockets and there is are smart $20pp suppl restaurants called Portofinos and Chops- but no children under 14 allowed. Hope this helps
