Have you considered applying for a credit card for the holiday and cutting it up afterwards? I use my credit card vary rarely, usually on holiday when it makes shopping so much easier than juggling currencies.

Princess website states Credit Cards, Cash or Travellers Cheques, as do most other cruise lines. Some have stated on this site that Princess have accepted Debit Cards at the check in. I don't see the point in 'risking it' myself.....Wilba.

From their website "We collect personal information such as name, address, telephone number and email address. If you book a cruise we will also collect your passport and credit or debit card details. Other information that we collect may include medical, health, mobility and dietary requirements. This allows us to process and fulfil your booking or other requests." So debit cards are accepted and when you register on-line you will be able to complete this part of the info accordingly.

Apologies I keyed in P & O and not Princess so the note below is not correct, best phone and ask to save any problems later but other lines do accept Debit cards so don't see why Princess don't but phone and check.

Princess do not accept debit cards. ring them yourself for the alternative such as paying in travellers cheques or cash when you first board. If you can get a credit card just for your holidays it is a very good idea. I would reccomend Nationwide (you can apply on the internet) as they have no charges for use abroad. Credit cards are not scarey - only if you dont pay them off ! If you cannot get a credit card due to your credit rating, then your only alternative is to take enough money with you in the form of cash (dollars) or travellers cheques as the on board currency is US Dollars.
