Pool towels and bathroom towels are provided, no need to take your own. The laundrette is free but you will have to provide your own powder or buy some on board and the irons and boards are in the laundrette. .... Neil.

The laundrette wasn't free on the two Princess ships I've been on, Neil. You needed US coins for washing machines and driers.

I see that your experiance was a little different! Presumably change can be obtained on board, but incidentally was it Sea Princess you travelled on?

On Island Princess we had to pay to use washers and driers - $1 coins. Just been on Crown Princess but did not use the launderette, but I would imagine all Princess ships will be the same. There are change machines in the launderettes.

No, it wasn't, it was Star & Emerald. But Whittle, Heywood found the same on Island and as he/she says, it's likely the policy is consistent across all their ships. If you haven't got any dollars you can get some from the purser's desk. As far as I can recall, it was only a couple of dollars for each machine.

Simple answer is this. If you need money to put in any machine on any cruise ship in the world, they will provide the means for you to obtain it. They don't miss any opportunity, no matter how small the amount, to remove it from your pocket.

Sorry peoples you could be right as Princess have taken to charging extra for everything they can and I haven't been on them for a while, so I stand corrected. .... Neil.

Hope you have seen the response from Macro. It seems Sea Princess is a little unique. I hope not to have to use the launderette but want to be prepared in case the baggage allowance is only 15kg - Thomas Cook airlines - which I am dreading having seen the posts on this site. Tried upgrading flight but sold out. Wonder why!!!

Two nights on Indy..

By Alison Ranaldi

Alison Ranaldi's blog

Last week I spent two nights on the newly revamped Independence of the Seas.We sailed from Southampton in glorious sunshine to Le Havre and back. This was my third time on board this ever-popular ship and I was keen to see the changes to her after a big refit. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 which had everything we needed for a comfortable break. I’m not generally a fan of mini-cruises. They offer an excellent way for someone like myself to see the ships but I do not think they are a g...
