I have been on both more than once and feel the Grand is better than the Sea Princess. I would also recommend Royal Carribean and Carnival who also have ships in the med.

Thank you , Tullock , I will be more relaxed about looking now. That was exactly what I wanted, someone to recommend the next ship to us as we don't want our next cruise to be a let down after having such a wonderful 1st cruise.

Sorry to disagree with tullock. I have been on the Grand and sister ship Star Princess and Sea Princess. They do NOT have the same lovely atmosphere as Sea Princess. I have found Sea Princess to be consistently a wonderful ship and that is largley because it is medium sized. The bigger ships may have more bars etc. but there are so many people (3000)there is no atmosphere. In fact shear numbers of less relaxed people can be overwhelming.

Thank you Macro , I don't see how it can be as nice as the Sea Princess , due to the size of it and the ammount of people.I have read that there are long waits fot the lifts as well and the horison isn't as easy as on the " Sea ". Well we have no option really , we have to try it as the "sea" has been taken off the med. I wish they would realise that people get an affection for that ship and don't want to have to move to another.

Two nights on Indy..

By Alison Ranaldi

Alison Ranaldi's blog

Last week I spent two nights on the newly revamped Independence of the Seas.We sailed from Southampton in glorious sunshine to Le Havre and back. This was my third time on board this ever-popular ship and I was keen to see the changes to her after a big refit. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 which had everything we needed for a comfortable break. I’m not generally a fan of mini-cruises. They offer an excellent way for someone like myself to see the ships but I do not think they are a g...
