Stiles - Answered a Question by Tranter (03 Jul 07 11:13)

Hi, I did this cruise last year and the cruise itself was fantastic although the flights for us were also a big concern, you have to fly long haul for london to Los Angeles which is about a 11 hour flight, from there to Honolulu another 5 hours, we were advised to spend a night in LA which we did and was a good way to break tge journey up, we also extended our stay in Honolulu before the cruise which again I reccomend as the island is beautiful. Returning the journey is even longer 8 hours from papete to LA so again we stayed a night in Los Angeles. The flights are long but the cruise is absolutely worth it and you'll soon forget about them.

FORD - Answered a Question by Tranter (03 Jul 07 20:13)

My husband, sister and brother in law sailed on Tahitian Princess 2005 from Papeete to Honolulu, fab cruise and holiday. The flights are long, although we stayed overnight in LA which helped, on the return went straight through, but I would prefer to stay overnight on the return possible in San Francisco or LA to cut the journey short, or you could fly to New York and do a few days there. Cruise was fantastic, Tahitian Princess is a great ship, small but very friendly (as are the Hawaiians) weather superb, hot but with a gentle breeze, all in a fab cruise and I would recommend it. Perry - Answered a Question by Tranter (03 Jul 07 20:53)

Make sure you check your flight times - when we left the TP in Papeete Princess booked the flights and we had to leave the ship at 12.15 on the evening we docked. Hope you are luckier than we were with the weather in January - yes I know it is the rainy season - but every day.

Many thanks Perry for your comments. You don't appear to be too happy with this cruise. I just hope that the weather in September/October will be better than what you experienced. Did Princess arrange all your flights for you and if they did were you given flight options on getting back to the UK? I wonder if it would be better to arrange ones own flights? Does anyone have suggestions or an experience please that they could share with me? Many thanks Juli.

Hockney - Answered a Question by Tranter (23 Jul 07 23:26)

Hi, we are planning on taking the same cruise and patiently waiting for the new brochure prices due 3 September. Given that this is such a long haul and given that delays in us airports are not uncommon, and fights from papeete cannot be that regular, we certainly will be booking through Princess. If I were booking the flights myself I would want to ensure that I was in Honolulu a day or two ahead of when the ship is due to sail. We are really looking forward to this one and all the indications are that the cruise will be superb.

Small ships are wanted!!

By Neil Holmes

P&O have announced that their small ship Adonia is to return to their 2017/2018 season. The ship was much loved by the P&O faithful and when she left the fleet to help with humanitarian work overseas there was a big hole to fill as many of the P&O fleet are larger ships and P&O were losing some of their passengers to cruise & Maritime and Fred Olsen. From June 2017 she will start Mediterranean, round Britain and even an Iceland sailing. The smaller more interesting ports w...

Five Of My Favourites !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Well its very nearly Christmas and all I wish for now is some snow! Walking the dog this morning everywhere was frosty and white, made me really feel in the festive spirit. One of the best things personally at this time of the year is the food and celebrations associated with Christmas and New Year, so this week I have decided to blog about 5 of my favourite places to eat. Some on cruise ships, some not.Fed Olsen Balmoral. I always enjoy the food on Fred`s ships and Balmoral last year was no...

Adonia makes a comeback

By Ruth Gale

Ruth Gale's blog

Great news from P&O that the very popular Adonia will be returning to their fleet next year. With ships getting bigger and bigger it is getting very difficult to find suitable cruises for the many people that still prefer the smaller more intimate ships like Adonia.Adonia previously left the fleet to operate Fathom cruises designed for voluntary tourism. Passengers were taken to destinations to help teach English or to help on building projects. It was a great idea but the ship was sadly m...
