Hi i recently went on a cruise from Southampton, and booked with holiday extras it was cheaper. However, their information says it is 15 minutes transfer to the port, this really wasn't the case it took a lot longer than I had expected!! Which added a lot of time on to my journey, it wasn't a positive start to my cruise. In retrospect I would definitely pay a bit more and park in the Port, it really is worth it and removes the hassle. If I were you i would seriously consider not parking with holiday extras but park in the port. Hope this helps!!

Wow thats alot, how much is your travel agent charging you? they can usually get it cheaper or the cruise people can get it for you. I suppose this is similar if you were to park at heathrow or gatwick these days. I booked with Royal caribbean and am going in July and I have free car parking with mine but took it for granted did not realise that it cost so much (have a nice cruise we went on Princess last year and it was great, we thought that we try something different this year.

We have cruised from Southampton and arrived there by Taxi on one occasion - although we live in Shropshire it cost less than the car parking! However we spoke to fellow passengers who had left their car at a hotel in Eastleigh having spent one night there, the cost to park at the hotel was £40 for the length of the cruise (14nights) . not a bad idea.

It is a very secure car park and convenient so that's why they charge premium. The answer re hotel for one night & paying for car park is a good one, there are lots of hotels here in Southampton. The other alternative would be to see if you can book at Airport Long Term car park http://www.southamptonairport.com/ and get a taxi from there, it'll be circa £15 for taxi, there is train or bus but taxi easier! You could even stay night at Premier Travel Inn at Airport from £58 weekends, parking is limited on site though so would need to use long term car park. Can also check out car parking at http://www.southampton.gov.uk/transport/parking/default.asp The docks are very close to city centr.

Always has been, it's a money making machine, the altenative is to get the train then a cab to the docks, there is also a coach service run by Evesway coaches, by the way you spelt expensive wrong, this is the correct spellin.

Log into www.holidayextras.co.uk. Go into airport parking and at the bottom you will find Southampton port. You do not park at the docks but about 15 minutes away. Free transport is given to the ship at quite a saving on dockside parking.
