For recent cruises ending in Acapulco - the port and airport get terrible reviews...."The airport was dirty and crowded with limited places for any kind of expensive, poor quality refreshment. What was really aggravating to us and many of our fellow passengers was the so called "tourist tax" at the airline check in desk. My husband and I were told it $44 for the two of us. I got out my credit card and was told it had to be in cash. I WATCHED her put in her pocket. This has proved to be a scam posted on several websites.

We sailed from Port Lauderdale via the canal in May 2005 and the weather was a bit wet as you are travelling through a rain forest area, but the experience was great my wife felt though it was a bit like watching paint dry, but our cruise finished up in San Francisco. We did pick up a certificate to say we had sailed through the canla in other words I am certified.
