Bucket of beer - pay for four beers and get the fifth beer free. They all come in a bucket with ice. The total cost was around $17.50, which comes to about $3.50 per beer. A glass of wine is $4.50 and up, plus 15%....mixed drinks start at about the same and, depending on the size and kind, can go up to about $7 or thereabout, all plus that 15% auto gratuity. Mixed drinks come in three sizes: small, medium and large, the small was about $4.50; the medium $5.50; and the large $6.50 (plus 15% gratuity.) .

Enjoyed sailing on Grand Princess in July however the beer selection was very disappointing (if you like Continental lager)since aimed at US market. The draft (Carlsberg) lager is unchilled (explained to me by the friendly barstaff) so was best avoided. No Stella or Kronenbourg etc. Bottles were either Becks (which I found the best choice) or American beers such as Coors, Budweiser, Miller etc. Agree with prices stated by Aldrich, which were reasonable due to the favourable exchange rate.

I agree with the Aldrich answer. A bottle of wine in the restaurants started at about $20 average about $25 all plus the compulsory 15% tip. You could make a bottle last more than one meal. All drinks are charged to your account which you settle on the last night because the ship is strictly no cash and everything is charged in dollars. Therefore take the exchange rate into account. If you settle by credit card you will probably get a handling charge levied by your card company.

Two nights on Indy..

By Alison Ranaldi

Last week I spent two nights on the newly revamped Independence of the Seas.We sailed from Southampton in glorious sunshine to Le Havre and back. This was my third time on board this ever-popular ship and I was keen to see the changes to her after a big refit. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 which had everything we needed for a comfortable break. I’m not generally a fan of mini-cruises. They offer an excellent way for someone like myself to see the ships but I do not think they are a g...
