You can use a mobile via the ships satellite system but you will probably need to remorgage every thing you own when you get the bill so it's best to phone when in port. Make sure you take a Quad Band phone for use in the Caribbean.... Regards Wilba.
Wilba! Take a look at all Woodiwiss, bolton questions. I have just done. Is the person winding us up or not?
I honestly don't think so. I think their just over excited at the newness to cruising & wish I them well.....Regards Wilba.
If you want to use the ships satellite system on Ventura check with your phone company first...I'm with Orange PAYG and although I could use it in the Caribbean it wouldn't allow me to use the ships satellite when we were at sea. i did notice public telephones on the quayside in most of the ports although i wasn't looking for them so couldn't be sure where they were! I certainly texted from all the ports we stopped at and had instant replies!
We used a mobile round the Caribbean with varying success and charges, for the Maritime network are £1-20 per min.you can send and receive text and you need a least a tri-band phone ?
You can buy phone cards in all ports, mobiles are a bit hit or miss.do not use the ships phone to ring home unless you are desperate, they are quite expensive.
Used the ships phone on the half price days. Excellent reception. A tariff of the calls are in the Info folder in the cabins. When you consider what you have paid for the cruise, the phone calls are not too expensive and at least you have piece of mind.
