Ingle - Answered a Question by Colin Webster (30 Oct 08 21:25)

On a recent cruise on Ventura, a couple on our table were celebrating their 60th anniversary, so we organised a cake, balloons and singing waiters. The cake needs to be ordered through reception and cost £6. There is no cost for the rest, just talk to the head waiter. The P&O "anniversary" cruises with freebies have been discontinued.

Yes its the credit crunch again! We were on Ventura for our ruby anniversary, we had £50 onboard credit, flowers and a lovely silver frame for our free formal picture. A champagne cocktail party with cake and a meeting with the captain. Fabulous! but with 300 couples celebrating anniversarys on this cruise, with onboard credit, it dosnt take a genious to work out that cost P.O £15,000 plus the champagne (REAL!) Cake, flowers, photo frames, formal pic. We were told this is the first time it had been done, and would probably be the last! We enjoyed it though, but what should be done (In my opinion) Is restrict Anniversary cruises to the most memorable ones. i.e SILVER, RUBY, GOLD etc. But well done to all who celebrate any in this day and age.

As Ingle says you can organise a cake either by phoning P&O before you go or you can organise it on board. We thought the cakes were very good for £6. If you want balloons on your table etc. as has been said this can be arranged through the head waiter, or again through reception.
