middleton - Answered a Question by Bell (30 Aug 08 16:11)

Stateroom is just a fancy name for a cabin. Yes they can change there company policy at any time if they wish to do so, they make the rules not us.

I agree with your comment, but if a cruise was booked 12 months ago and P&O have changed their smoking policy since that time then Bell would be entitled to a refund of deposit as the booking conditions have changed. I cancelled my cruise due to the new smoking policy and received a full free refund of my deposit.

I agee that a refund should be in order but that was not the question asked.

Ok fair comment, but was only trying to be helpful, shan't bother in the future if people are going to be rude to me.

Ignore the rudeness, you get it sometimes on here unfortunately- if you have something to say just post it, we are not all rude and I thought your answer was very helpful.

Please do not stop answering questions. You have an input like everyone else. Dolan was right just post it! I wish everyone was as honest and forthright as you. Unfortunately some seem Hellbent to cause antagonism between fellow cruisers! I know you have deciced to stop cruising but please rethink! We are going to continue cruising regardless! We need such lovely folks as you to make our cruises worthwhile! The rest are just moaners! Watch and see what flak I get from that remark!

How very nice of you to make such a lovely comment, it is people like yourselves who my Husband and I are going to miss on cruises. We have met some lovely people on board the P&O fleet in the past and have had some lovely cruises with them but I am sticking firmly to my principles and choosing a more tolerent cruise line in the future. I wish you well and hope you contine to enjoy your cruises.

I am a smoker, as is my teenage daughter, and we will still be cruising with P+O because we will have a balcony cabin. Also you can still smoke outside. I don't find the new rules a hardship.

Not being able to smoke in my cabin is not a hardship to me either as even though I am a smoker I don't think it fair to permeate a cabin with my cigarette smoke, but having to smoke outside in possible inclement weather conditions is, therefore I choose not to cruise with P&O anymore, I don't ask that they allow smoking all over the ship but one small indoor area with decent ventilation shouldn't be too much to ask. However, I digress, "the great smoking debate" is on the cruise news page, so no more to be said by me, at least on this page. I hope you and your daughter have a great cruise, as I am sure you will, P&O have at least got that one right, never had a bad one with them yet.
