We flew back from acapulco with Thomsons(leg room was good)after panama canal cruise to east midlands airport and refuelled at miami. didnt get off the plane and it took apx 1 hour. Total time from Acapulco airport to ema was 13 hours, The airport at Acapulco is very small and not many seats, 1/3 of passengers had to stand or sit on floor.

Many thanks for your information. Pity that you couldn't stretch your legs at re-fuelling!

We have flown to Acapulco but with Thomsons and from East Mids.We put down in Halifax ,Canada. As I remember it in Dec and about minus 15c.The Canadians wer very hospitable and laid on a very pleasant breakfast buffet,Cereals Fruit Yoghurt Soft drinks and various snacks.Other flights joining the same ship [Arcadia] used Bangor Maine,Barbados and I think Cuba.

We are flying with Thomas Cook - so will have to wait and see where they decide to stop. Thankyou for replying.

It is usually an island off the coast of Cuba. But wherever it is you will not be able to get off the plane. The landing is just for refuelling and a crew change. I have heard that some flights do it in one go - so you just might be lucky.

Wilson - Answered a Question by Pickard (08 Feb 09 13:39)

We flew to Acapulco to join Oceana for her Christmas cruise. We should have left UK on 12th Dec am, instead it got changed to 11th Dec pm from Manchester. We were the lucky ones, we flew Thomson - very good 9 hours to Sanford, Florida, 1 hour on the plane, and a further 3 hours to Acapulco arriving 7.00am 12th Dec. We were on board within the hour and had the day to explore, albeit a little tired. Second Manchester flight left on Friday 12th via Ireland and Aruba. Birmingham flight on the friday went via Miami with a four hour stop, they were told to get off the plane where US immigration confiscated everyones duty free. Gatwick flight was delayed 4 hours and they went via Barbados. I think its hit and miss. Last people got onboard 5 hours after we were due to sail. Didn't spoil the holiday at all, you have to grin and bear it with charter flight companies. Other people on board moaned non stop for two weeks- Hope you have a good trip, Oceana's one of my favourites and we had a wonderful time!

Sounds like you had a horrendous flight. I hope ours is better. We are flying from Manchester. I guess I will have to take a sleeping pill or a few brandies!.

Smythe - Answered a Question by Pickard (10 Feb 09 16:05)

We have just returned from the Panama cruise on the Artemis having flown from Manchester. The flight was several hours late leaving and refuelled in Miami including a crew change which took 1.5 hours. A further 3 hours flight to Acupulco. The transportation from the airport was very slow and we eventually arrived on board 23 hours from leaving home so go and enjoy your cruise.

The River Cruise Line saved as...

By Richard Smith

I was shocked at the end of last week when I started to hear reports that The River Cruise Line could cease trading.I have personally sailed with The River Cruise Line in the past and had a great experience doing so. I think that they offer very good value for money and offer a product that can cost a lot less to book than some of their more luxurious rivals.Unfortunately Diamond Shortbreak Holidays Ltd who were the parent company of The River Cruise Line announced that they had to go i...

Celebrity Edge is on its Way

By Robin Clarke

Robin Clarke's blog

So the brand new Celebrity Edge has now gone on sale for her maiden voyage on the 16th of December starting her Caribbean voyages where she will be based in Fort Lauderdale. This ship is like no other at sea with so many fantastic new amenities on-board such as the new infinite balconies which even I was blown away by this. The balcony itself is now within the cabin and has a separator if you wish to use it to separate the balcony from the cabin. You then have a switch that you can push that ...

AMAzing my first impressions o...

Betsy Davies's blog

Well I have just returned from my first ever visit to a River cruise ship. What a way to start!!! I visited the AmaPrima and Ama are rated the highest standard of ships in Europe according to the Berlitz guide.I flew to Amsterdam and we got picked up by a brand new AMA coach and transferred the short distance to the centre of city to meet the ship, the first eye opener for me was exactly how near to the centre of the town the ship was. If I am being really honest I really didn’t know w...
