We flew back from acapulco with Thomsons(leg room was good)after panama canal cruise to east midlands airport and refuelled at miami. didnt get off the plane and it took apx 1 hour. Total time from Acapulco airport to ema was 13 hours, The airport at Acapulco is very small and not many seats, 1/3 of passengers had to stand or sit on floor.

Many thanks for your information. Pity that you couldn't stretch your legs at re-fuelling!

We have flown to Acapulco but with Thomsons and from East Mids.We put down in Halifax ,Canada. As I remember it in Dec and about minus 15c.The Canadians wer very hospitable and laid on a very pleasant breakfast buffet,Cereals Fruit Yoghurt Soft drinks and various snacks.Other flights joining the same ship [Arcadia] used Bangor Maine,Barbados and I think Cuba.

We are flying with Thomas Cook - so will have to wait and see where they decide to stop. Thankyou for replying.

It is usually an island off the coast of Cuba. But wherever it is you will not be able to get off the plane. The landing is just for refuelling and a crew change. I have heard that some flights do it in one go - so you just might be lucky.

Wilson - Answered a Question by Pickard (08 Feb 09 13:39)

We flew to Acapulco to join Oceana for her Christmas cruise. We should have left UK on 12th Dec am, instead it got changed to 11th Dec pm from Manchester. We were the lucky ones, we flew Thomson - very good 9 hours to Sanford, Florida, 1 hour on the plane, and a further 3 hours to Acapulco arriving 7.00am 12th Dec. We were on board within the hour and had the day to explore, albeit a little tired. Second Manchester flight left on Friday 12th via Ireland and Aruba. Birmingham flight on the friday went via Miami with a four hour stop, they were told to get off the plane where US immigration confiscated everyones duty free. Gatwick flight was delayed 4 hours and they went via Barbados. I think its hit and miss. Last people got onboard 5 hours after we were due to sail. Didn't spoil the holiday at all, you have to grin and bear it with charter flight companies. Other people on board moaned non stop for two weeks- Hope you have a good trip, Oceana's one of my favourites and we had a wonderful time!

Sounds like you had a horrendous flight. I hope ours is better. We are flying from Manchester. I guess I will have to take a sleeping pill or a few brandies!.

Smythe - Answered a Question by Pickard (10 Feb 09 16:05)

We have just returned from the Panama cruise on the Artemis having flown from Manchester. The flight was several hours late leaving and refuelled in Miami including a crew change which took 1.5 hours. A further 3 hours flight to Acupulco. The transportation from the airport was very slow and we eventually arrived on board 23 hours from leaving home so go and enjoy your cruise.

Disney Magic

By Betsy Davies

Well I have just returned from my 5th visit to Eurodisney with my family . Yet again it didn’t disappoint. There was 11 of us in total and we stayed in the Dream Castle just outside the gates and it was great !! We were up at 6.30 every morning and in the parks by 9 am impressingly first in the queue to get in on some days. Even though it was February it was still busy so we needed to fast pass some of the ride which always comes in handy. We were very lucky as we had a few days of glori...

For those who know me, will know our family loves a visit to the Big Apple…Here at Cruise we have some fantastic cruise offers taking in New York, where you can extend your stay and try something different. Here are few things to consider on your next visit to the City that doesn’t sleep! The hidden gem of the High Line is a disused railway line that’s been turned into a linear park, running from 30th street down to the meat packing district. It has lots of seating areas and...

Jewels of Asia

By Nicola Milligan

Nicola Milligan's blog

Way back in 1996 I could not decide which cruise to do for our honeymoon. Caribbean or Jewels of Southeast Asia. We plumped for Western Caribbean on board Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas. An amazing time was had but we promised we would one day try the Far East. So 21 years later we are jetting off to Singapore. After a Manchester Abu Dhabi then on to Singapore with Etihad we will have 1 night pre cruise to hopefully visit Gardens by the Bay and recover from our long flight then bo...
