You get off the plane, barbados, wait by plane at airport and a coach comes and takes you direct to port where ocean village is berthed, and then you book in to board at the port,no probs.

I assume its the same as P&O do, where there is a fleet of minibuses on the tarmac and you get straight on and are taken to the ship. Journey time is 35-45mins. As they are mainly minibuses there are no toilts. However you do not have to wait to go through immigration or even enter the terminal building. You luggage follows on later in a truck and is delivered to your cabin.

Hi I Did this last year. Get off the plane straight onto waiting coaches and are taken straight to the port, ( 35mins) The coaches/buses are very basic and have no toilet facilities. Once dropped off at the port you check-in, in a big warehouse then walk to the ship, or if berthed too far away you get a lift in another coach. very organised and only took us 15-20 minutes. All in all took us ( family of 5) about an hour, hour and fifteen from plane to cabin.

Hi, thank you for your response. Do you recall if there were toilets at the port /warehouse place. I realise that these questions seem strange but I am a really nervous traveller!! Thank you so much. Nichola .

Hi Nichola I didn't notice toilets at the check-in at the port, there might be. Don't forget you can use the toilet once the plane has landed so it might be worth waiting until most have got off the plane, use the loo ,board the coach and within a hour, hour and a half you should be in your cabin. The journey from the airport to the port really does go quickly. Hope this helps.lorna.

Hi When we have cruised from Barbados with P & O the transfer was by mini buses and it was all pretty swift straight from the plane to the ship.

Hi we went on ov 2 last nov 07 the transfer from airport was a bit poor to be honest little coach seating about 25 no loo it takes about 45 mins to the port and then about another 30 mins to actually get on board after all the check in procedure also if you smoke there is no smoking opportunities any were until you get in the room as barbados is a no smoking port as is the coach at least you dont have to go in to the terminal all in all not that bad just think of what awaits you THE CARRIBEAN SUN & FUN .

Fab transfer- very quick - straight from plane to coach- bags magically appear by cabin door about 30 mins after arrival. Why would anyone want a loo?? As for smoking....

I suppose if you have never suffered from a medical condition that means you require access to a toilet with very little warning then my question may seems strange, smoking a cigarette would be the least of my worries.

Your River Cruise Questions An...

By Hannah Wilson

Any one who has followed my Blog over the years knows that my favourite type of cruising is river cruising. I did my first river cruise about 6 years ago, the first of many, and I have never looked back. It ticks all the boxes for me, small ships, friendly staff and passengers, fabulous scenery all day every day, and being docked right in the centre of which ever city you are visiting so no long transfers, not to mention fabulous food!I just find that I enjoy these cruises so much more...

Cuba

By Steve Fuller

Steve Fuller's blog

I visited Cuba recently and had an amazing experience. The people, the way of life and culture. I learned a lot of it’s history, more than just what I would have learned at school. It was very interesting to see at first hand what life is like there.Being on an escorted tour I was able to see the real Cuba. Not just a few nights in Havana and then spending the rest of our time on a beach. I visited Cuba in-land, I saw the farms, the tobacco and coffee plants and just how the real people...

Venice is Drowning With Tourists

By Lily Canderton

Lily Canderton's blog

The Truth is Venetians do not want to live in Venice any longer as their population dwindles with tourists often outnumbering residents, partly as a result of cruise ship visitors as the mega-cruise ships’ tens of thousands of passengers spilling into its narrow streets and canals, this mass tourism is causing irreversible damage on the fragile lagoon ecosystem and is endangering the environment of the city and its lagoon.Cruising into Venice Italy is one of those magical travel moments...
