Find yourself the nicest hotel you can. As long as it is in Palma, you are never a stones through from OV2. I would have said 15 euro will get you a taxi from airport into Palma, and then maybe 10 euro just to take you over to the ship, which is docked right on the far side of the harbour.

It will still need a cab to get to the port unless you are a mule! So really any hotel in Palma will do. The Catalonia is nice so long as you get a sea facing room.I am suprised it will be a less expensive option than taking the flights with Ocean?

Price with OV inc flights based on basic cabin = £515 pp.Cabin only £299 Return fights with EASYJET=£119 giving a total of £418.As there are 3of us it works out £291 cheaper doing it ourselves. As you say we need hotel & taxis but it gives us an extra day/night in Palma.Just something I was loking into.....

Sorry haven't got any particular recommendations for hotels in Palma but Sol Melia/Tryp hotels are usually fine across Spain. Agree with you though on buying cruise only deal as we did the same it is was much cheaper. They wanted £750 for flight/cruise deal. We got the cruise only for c£550 and got our flights for £70 each. It also meant we could choose our flight times. Some people were stuck without a cabin from 8.30am in the morning until their flight in the evening. We were home at lunchtime and it was great.

Nobody should worry about taxi fares in Mallorca, a 45 minute ride to / from Magalluf cost less than 50 euro!
