TUTIN - Answered a Question by Winter (28 Jun 07 18:23)

It all depends upon the severity of your disability. The tenders are ok, but can rock and roll a bit if the seas a bit choppy, but most islands are accessable by berthing the ship at the quay side. I was very wary of using the tenders, but found getting on and off them ok and the staff are very good at assisting passengers. As long as you have informed the cruise line what your requirements are you should be ok, but reiterate it once you are on board and everytime you book a trip, just to make sure all staff know of your needs.

Hales - Answered a Question by Winter (28 Jun 07 13:03)

My husband has mobility problems and walks awkwardly with an arm crutch. We were also worried about transferring from the boat when we took our first cruise earlier this year on Minerva II with Swan Hellenic. I don't know about Ocean Village but I would imagine there will still be quite a few people on board who are not in the first flush of youth or fully mobile. There should be help available to get down the ramp onto the quay if you need it and plenty of strong-armed crew around to help everyone transfer safely into tenders. Ask for and accept the help that is offered and I'm sure you'll be fine. We plan to do lots more cruises now, as we found it was the best way for my husband to get the most out of our holiday. Coaches for the excursions are usually waiting near the ship on the quay and if you need more time or help, go to the disembarkation point early and ask for help. best wishes Christine Hales, Kingsbridg.

I have been on the Ocean Village twice and I was not told about the climbs, fast walks, long walks on some of the trips . . .I found out the hard way . . . some people had to wait 4 to 6 for the return coach because they couldn't go any further. On one trip we was dropped off from a catamaran and had to climb a very steep hill to get to the coach. They couldn't get back on the cat' because it was full up for another trip.
