My husband and I (74 and 71) have just returned from an Ocean Village cruise. We went on our first cruise with them 4 years ago. In some areas the boat is looking a bit older (small ways eg some lampshades need replacing) but the general state is good - definitely not ruff and tatty. We found that most people made an effort for dinner, though some still appeared in vests and shorts - you can always find a table that sits only two. We travelled during the Easter holiday and there were very few children aboard - in fact, we think the average age was 50+. Of course, it may be different during the school summer holidays.

Put your minds at rest. While Ocean Village is a different style of cruising, you are moving upmarket and will enjoy the experience. Make the most of whats on offer. We will look forward to your review on your return. Richar.

As the 1st answer implies - you are moving upscale... if you found Thomson & Island ok, you will have no probs with OV .

Best Burger at Sea!

By Zara Kelly

Its been a few weeks since I have done a food blog, so I thought I would dedicate a blog to why there MUST be excellent burgers at sea!On a cruise you can never go hungry, food is plentiful but there is something satisfying about a good burger. I am no connoisseur, but my husband is. If ever I need to get into his good book, I know what to serve. I took him to an amazing restaurant for his 40th (see below!).I am a little bit of a food snob, but that all changed when I experienced Johnny Rocke...

Sailing like a Celebrity Part ...

By Molly McIntyre

Molly McIntyre's blog

As I was only on board for two nights we did not bother with any speciality dining on this occasion so we ate in the main dining room which was amazing. We had opted for Celebrity Select Dining which means we could choose when we wanted to go for dinner and could just turn up or you can pre-book a time on your planner. We pre-booked 6.45pm on both nights. On arrival at the dining room entrance we were escorted to a table towards the back of the restaurant and were immediately greeted by two l...

The Nightmare Of Packing For A Holiday !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Watching the Royal wedding this weekend, and looking at the lovely outfits, I started to think about what I am going to pack for my Azamara cruise next week. Choosing an outfit for any special occasion can be daunting, and time consuming, and a Royal Wedding must be stressful to say the least but packing, for a holiday is another thing altogether! The first cruise I ever went on was Fred Olsen Braemar sailing from Southampton. Packing for that was easy, just take everything you want as there i...
