It really depends on which cruise you are looking at on OV or OV2. One of them which calls back into Montego Bay half way through the cruise would give you enough time and certain cruise lines occasionally run excursions there. It is worth remembering though that Kingston is quite a dangerous town and unless you have a positive reason to go there it might be worth considering some of the other attractions Jamaica has to offer. Jamaica is a very attractive island and I love it but your security is at risk in many ways so stay street-wise. If you found the entertainment lacking there are other lines with a little or a lot more sophistication. I would also suggest that, if you are able, you avoid the period between end June to end October as the weather can be a problem during this period. Hope this helps.....Neil Dow.

Where in Jamaica do you dock? Jamaica is a very large island with not the best infrastructure regarding roads. Kingston is a dump and not worth a special trip IMHO.

Ocean Village Two does not call at Jamaica - at least not this winter - 2007/8. Ocean Village calls at Monetgo Bay and Ochos Rios on Jamaica. I would say that it would be very iffy to try to get across the island to Kingston and back in a day.

Viking River Cruises Award...

Knowing that river cruise ships are much smaller and given that the facilities are smaller, you might be forgiven for thinking that the food on board is going to be nowhere as good, or varied, as on an ocean cruise, you would be wrong! I must admit, having seen the size of the galley on a river cruise ship I was astonished because the food that they produce in such a confined space is superb. You will honestly find something for every palette at each meal on board.Viking is one of the best k...
