You WILL be very restricted with a wheelchair in Venice, but you will be able to "do" St Mark's Square. As for the gondola ride it will depend how determined Mum is. They are not easy things to get into or out of, but they will take you back to your original drop off if asked. Whether you can leave a wheelchair behind is another question. BUT Venice is amazing and you will be blown away, so take it all in your stride and make the most of the things you CAN do. Enjoy Jacquie

Thanks for your help, mum will be VERY determined to get in and out of the gondola! Haven't been to venice with a wheelchair before so thanks for the tips. Apparently we will have about 2hours to wander round depending on how busy the gondolas are, so may just do St Mark's Square as you suggest. Mind you , i'm guessing it will be v busy so may try and get mum to max up on painkillers and walk a bit stop a bit if you see what i mean. Thanks again. Alison

I think you will find Venice quite difficult to get round with a wheel chair as you have to go over bridges to get about and a lot of steps. Not been on Ocean Village but been to many ports in the Med with Princess, some ports have mini buses as well as taxis but not all of them.

Thanks for the advice, as there will be 6 of us the organised trips will work out v expensive so, apart from venice, thought we'd try and do a bit of sight seeing ourselves. I suppose if we tell a taxi driver there are 6 of us they may ring for a larger car or minibus for us - we can but try!

After reading all the answers, even though this might seem callous, I would leave your Mam on the ship with a good book and a few of glasses of wine. Have you been to Venice before? Are you sure you'll manage with a wheelchair there, as it's hideously difficult because of all the steps, bridges, etc.
