Went on this cruise in August - extremely hot but lovely! Dubrovnik old Town - you can buy shuttle bus tickets on board ship or at the dockside for about £8 each to take you to and from the old town. As there were 4 of us we paid 10 euros each way in a taxi from the ship - cheaper. Corfu - about a 25 min walk to old town where we went on a 'little train' around the area. Cephalonia - stayed in port - pretty place with fruit market and a row of touristy shops one road back from the port. Katakolon - small port with a few shops. Athens - we did the ship's excursion to the Parthenon etc - very interesting tho a bit pricey for 4! Hope this helps. K Kin.

Hi Yeah, do your own thing, you can go on trips with local taxis and buses for a fraction of the cost of OV's trips. I.E monaco with ov was something like £28 per person, I got the bus return for about £4.00!!! These cruise lines only use local companies and add a huge profit margin, you can use local companies direct all with the correct insurance etc and save your self a small fortune, hope this helps.

hya- just back from this - we did not do many organised tours but hope the following info helps - Dubrovnick- OV run a bus which is £8 each return to the town from the dock but a taxi is only 10 e each way. taxis will also do a tour of highlights for 50 e .we went sea kayaking which was great fun . Corfu - Unless you want to go just to the old town which is 10e each way book a trip as local taxis are v expensive- eg 60e to dassia beach which is not v far away Cephelonia - 9e by taxi to long beack - which was v nice -8 e for 2 beds and a brolley. Katakolon - we missed due to the fires Athens- we did taste of athens which was v goood - there are lots of taxis who would do a tour of the best bits for 50e .

Went on this cruise mid July. Lovely scenery good ports which most are easy to go into town/beach your own way. Do NOT go on the trip to the Trojas Mountains wast of money in Cyprus. Have put in a complaint. All other trips we went on great. Roy Surrey 8th September 200.

Lisa West's blog

Yesterday we saw the launch of Thomson 2018 summer sailings go on sale, I must admit they have some fantastic itineraries. Thomson also announced their next ship the TUI Explorer for summer 2018 and the TUI Explorer 2 will follow in 2019. I think this is really exciting news for Thomson.More great news is the The TUI Discovery will also sail from Newcastle from May 2018 , she has some lovely itineraries round the Baltic and Norway. The fact that the ship sails from the North means you wil...

By Emma Davis

Emma Davis's blog

On our recent transatlantic cruise onboard P&O Britannia we had 4 ports of call during our 13 night itinerary, and I thought I would let you know a little bit more about the ports we visited and what we got upto. We travelled with a 2 year old so we couldn’t do anything to strenuous! Our first port of call was Dominica, this was a new destination for me having never visited the island before and we decided to book a little trip through P&O. Our little boy loves trains so we opted...
