To make a long story very short: Copenhagen, very walkable if you are moderately fit, but shuttle buses should be provided; Stockholm, depands where you are berthed but walkable for the old town to the Vasa museum (not to be missed), Helsinki again depands where you are berthed, but a nice city to walk round. Scandinavian prices are about on par with Britain (expensive!) In St Petersburg the easy, but more expensive, option is a ship's excursion, but other operators e.g. Denrus are available. Don't try to do this one one your own. Tallin is lovely, take the bus in to the old town and try to be early before it gets too crowded, you can go round the shops afterwards, linen is inexpensive. If you have a port in Poland prices are very reasonable, especially lead crystal. I've not been to Riga so can't comment. Have a lovely trip.

So, I have done a short interview with Jane, who has also kindly let me share some of her wonderful p...

Five Of My Favourites !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Well its very nearly Christmas and all I wish for now is some snow! Walking the dog this morning everywhere was frosty and white, made me really feel in the festive spirit. One of the best things personally at this time of the year is the food and celebrations associated with Christmas and New Year, so this week I have decided to blog about 5 of my favourite places to eat. Some on cruise ships, some not.Fed Olsen Balmoral. I always enjoy the food on Fred`s ships and Balmoral last year was no...

NCL Gem Med Cruise

By Declan Doherty

Declan Doherty's blog

The last two stops on our itinerary were Livorno and Villefranche. As we had pre-booked the Monaco & Monte Carlo excursion for Villefranche, we opted to do our own thing in Livorno and take it easy for the day. After a short coach transfer from the port to the city center we spent most of the day shopping. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and we found them to be very reasonable with plenty of choice. From here we had the option of visiting Pisa or Florence or both if you ...
