Norwegian Dream is not typical of NCL. It is an old ship shortly to be moved out of their fleet. Drinks (beer and wine)prices are very similar to those you will pay in a restaurant in the UK or most other cruise lines. They add 15% service charge which is a cheek. As a point of interest, on the Baltics Cruise all fresh vegetables etc are sourced and taken on board on Warnemunde, fuel in St Peterburg and everything else is shipped over from USA and loaded in Copenhagen. How do I know this? I asked and saw for myself.

Have travelled only on "The Pride of Aloha". Just be careful if they ask you if you want a souvenir glass if you have a cocktail. It is just a glass with NCL on it and they charge you double.

If you are going on the Dream I fill sorry for you.The bar prices are out of this world.Cola/orange etc are 3.5 dollars +10% Gin /Whiskey 6.5 + 10% Wine starts from approx 20 dollars for cheap pluss 10%.There was only one cheap wine next 30+10%.Dont think you can take a bottle in your hand luggage. They scan and remove bottles to be return to the owner on the last night. If you go to the top deck for breakfast Take your own cup or you will find only paper ones.

Having just today returned from the Norwegian Dream - I cant beleive i am reading the last reviews! we were on Voyager last year and the drinks etc were much dearer - we actually thought the Dream was cheap! cocktails were $5.50, shots start at $3.50, beer from $3.50 coke is $1.75 per can. They charge more for the "Baltic" beers)large Heinieikens were $4.50 etc. (these prices have actually been taken from the menus which my son packed!) white wine start from $26 (but i had a glass of that and dont recommend it!) red wines from $24. with regard to only paper cups - we only saw paper cups once and that was towards the end of the breakfast service. if you have kids then they will love the kids club - my only complaint with that was that whilt it is free during sea days you do have to pay for days you leave ship and they dont seem to operate per half hour as they round it up. Granted the ship is old and not typical on the fleet but once you get your head around the "odd" layout it is not really bad - the staff are helpful, enthusiastic and nothing too much trouble.

Hi I'm just back from Norweigen jewel.Prices are 5.25 dollars a basic cocktail. glass of wine around 6.00 dollars upwards.A decent bottle of wine and the cheapest around 27-30 dollars. beer I think was in line with cocktails. Soft drinks like coke cheap.Kids "drink all you can soda" 16 dollars for 1 week without souvenir cup or 20 dollars I think with the cup. Adults a ridiculous 64 dollars!!remember none of this includes the automatic added 15 % gratuity. Ask for bar menu at bars for the prices and choices. Have a great time. Had a lovely cruise but hated the over crowded pool area with only 2 small pools and no shade to lounge in. regards Trac.

What Jane failed to show/mention

By Kerry James

I have been watching this series of Cruising with Jane McDonald (Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 5), and thought that when she was on MSC and Viking she did show more of the ship to the watcher/cruiser which I did think was lacking in the first series.I was surprised MSC had them back on as in the first series she didnt really show of the MSC Divina but was pleased to see that she was showing the newest ship in the fleet – MSC Meraviglia (at the moment until the MSC Seaside and MSC Seav...

Ciao I am Sailing

By Frankie Bond

Frankie Bond's blog

As you read this I will have started my own holiday – and yes you have guessed it I am off on a cruise…Firstly I will be spending 3 nights in the Mestre area of Venice to explore this beautiful city which I must admit to having never been to before (other than landing at the airport for a transfer to Trieste in April) I am looking forward to strolling around the beautiful streets, stopping for an ice-cream or a coffee in a lovely square and also to exploring the waterways of Veni...

Ryanair are a joke!

By Neil Holmes

Neil Holmes's blog

Well you have read the news. Ryanair are planning to cancel 40-50 flights a day…..yes A DAY because they have messed up their pilots holiday rota’s!!! I thought Michael O’Leary’s hair brained idea of ‘low cost standing room only on his flights’ was nonsense but I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard this news. Firstly are all their pilots taking holiday in Sept-Oct ? Is there a cheap deal we don’t know about and all the staff at Ryanair are...
