The Pearl has two main dining rooms plus the buffet and the Blue Lagoon - all these restaurants are free. If you are in a balcony or above you can book with 48 hours notice for the speciality restaurants -lower than a balcony is 24 hours. No need to book for the free restaurants unless you are in a big group. We sailed at Easter, a very busy ship, and had absolutely no problems getting into any restaurant on the ship. We ate at all the speciality restaurants also and felt that they were worth the additional surcharge. We were in the Caribbean, so can't give any advice re destinations. It was our first cruise and we had a great time. Staff were efficient and friendly - prepare to be pampered!

There are two good sections on this site which should make interesting reading for you. Look under "Cruise Guide" and then click on "First Time Cruisers" and "Life Aboard" and these will give you a lot of information, in fact the whole of that section is worth reading. If you are still unsure about certain things come back and ask us. .... Neil

OK NCL are free style cruses as far as dining goes, be warned that most of the restaurants have a surcharge that can add up to several hundred pounds. the 2 "Main free" dining rooms are, as expected very busy, they have a TV screen letting you know what the waiting times are for each restaurant, so go early or late now 7 till 8.30 when they are at their busiest. I am not sure if you can book for the free dining rooms in non suite accommodation, but you can if you are in a suite. Hope this helps a little, if you want to know more about cruising then obtain a book called "Berlitz Guide to Cruising"
