we are a family of 6 we flew with Thomas cook last year from gatwick to canada and weren't able to book sitting together in economy, we asked if we could sit together when we checked in on the day of departure and luckily we were all seated together, I think check in staff (at Gatwick, I cant say for other airports?) and cabin crew do their best and try to keep young children with their parents even asking other passengers if they are willing to move, some do some dont. some others passengers swapped seats after takeoff.
Most cruise companies book you in economy and we to have tried but unless you go for an upgrade and that might not be cheap is one way to do it.
Hi, Afraid it is true with TC. We are travelling with them in 4 weeks time and had the same answer to you. We have even got Premium seats but they can't guarantee we can sit together until we check in! I'm hoping to check-in the night (I believe you can do this?) before as we are staying at a hotel at Gatwick .
Thank you all very much for your replies they are very helpful.
