Take one evening gown, and a couple of cocktail dresses at least.
Unless you are not going to eat in restuarants at all whilst on board.
Each day the itinery delivered to your cabin should tell you what dress is required for each evening.
As soon as you board, go to the desks that show the excursions and book them up. If you leave it to a daily basis you may find excusions are fully booke.
Best to book restaurant reservations try steak house you can dress up for this but you dont have to go over the top we done island star last year you will enjoy iwore nice dress trouress and nice blouse my husband wore trousers and shirt did not wear atie or its up to you enjoy your holiday we have done island escape a well have lovely time yours mr mrs mcguire fife scotlan.
Each week there are two formal nights, when the men need a suit and a tie [dress suit , tuxedo, or lounge suit] and the women a nice trouser suit or full length dress.
On two other occasions men need ablazer or jacket and tie. On the other three night it is 'smart casual' when no tie or jacket is required. The food in the main two restaurants is magnificent! We never go to the one that you have to pay extra for. As for the tours, walk down the gangplank and hire a local taxi. The ships tours, sadly, are a rip off. Believe me!!!
I would certainly consider reading other reviews re the excursions. We went to The Red Sea last year with 2 of our kids, 19 and 23. Excursions are expensive so we booked all of our trips on line...to Petra ,The Pyramids /Cairo and The Valley of The Kings.Dockside collections by local companies and private guides.Recommend Memphis Tours and Jordan Inspiration Tours as reliable, efficient , trustworthy and there waiting for you to disembark.have heard that local taxis are a good way to travel and most locals would prefer cruisers to use locals rather than big companies...to spread the wealth.
I wore a cocktail dress (I don't own an evening gown!)for both my formal evenings and just some nice trousers and 'dressy' tops for the rest of the evenings. We found that if you really don't want to wear a tux you could just wear a suit and tie but make sure you wear a long sleeve shirt (men obviously!
