Neil Down - Answered a Question by Mathieson (19 Jul 08 15:41)

The advice given, I think, is good but I haven't used this cruise line so I can't add to it except to say make sure that your jewellery and valuables, ship’s documentation and any medication is taken with you in your carry-on luggage. There are occasions when luggage is delivered straight to your cabin but this depends so much on the security system at whichever airport is used and sometimes whether the flight is a charter flight or not so your agent may be saying things in good faith or just mistaken. regards Neil.

BLYTH - Answered a Question by Mathieson (19 Jul 08 11:59)

Yes once you land you need to collect your luggage and take it to the transport waiting to take you to your ship. You should be supplied with labels to identify your cabin so make sure they are attached. Depending on the arrangements your lugguage will normally be loaded into vans and yorselves into a coach and the next time you will see it is when it is delivered to your cabin. We usually have a small case packed with a few items for that evening in case there is a delay in the luggage being delivered. It hasn't happened for a while but one year it was 5 hours before we saw our cases, hopefully you won't experience that problem.

Thanks for the info. It appears I was misled by the tour operator. That's a shame. I thought that waving goodbye to my luggage in the departure airport was a great idea! I'll take a couple of bits and pieces in hand luggage just in case anything gets delayed...

New Additions for Hurtigruten

Emma Davis's blog

A few years ago i was lucky enough to take a voyage with Hurtigruten onboard the Finnmarken. After being a little apprehensive about the trip it actually turned out to be one of the most wonderful and magical trips i have ever taken. it was just something completely different o my normal ‘holiday’ , the scenery, the excursions, the food onboard everything was just fantastic and I will always absolutley rave on about how fantastic a voyage with Hurtigruten is , and even more so if ...
