Hello Allen, I can't vouch for Island Escape but I travelled on her sister ship Island Star , November last , to Brazil and it was a magnificent trip . This was my first cruise and overall , I enjoyed the informality and Rio was magnificen.

Hi - we havent been on the Island Escape but have been on the sister ship the "island Star" . If part of your holiday is dressing up in Dinner Jacket and Ball Gowns then this could be a bit dissapointing. However pPLEASE dont be put off the food is great , service excellent, there are 5 eating places . of which you can pay a supplement and are more dressy and the others are excellent too. Less informal doesnt mean not having a lovely relaxing holiday it means good company , happy and content. just read the other reviews for this Co, the majority love it and so did we. we are going on a differnt itinery in July as we loved it so much. We spoke to a lot of people who had been with P & O and RCC and they loved it just as much - they said it was differnt thats all yet they all siad what a happy ship it was with a very approachable Crew/Officers. Please enjoy it for what it is "friendly, relaxed and informal" with this in mind you will love it.

Island Escape is fine - more informal than many but ship is well appointed, comfortable, impeccably clean and offers excellent service. Lively, colourful entertainment with very talented Brazilian show team in superb costumes. Entertainment principally vocal (singing) or visual (dancing etc.) as well over half of the cruisers will be Brazilian or Portuguese - consequently language difficulties would preclude traditional Brit. comedian!! Also very good supplementary entertainment in lounges with duo, group etc. Great itinerary - add a Rio stopover if you can. We stayed in the Luxor Regente on Copacabana Beach. The rather plain, mediocre outside belies the excellent hotel within. Comfortable, well appointed and impeccably clean, friendly , helpful staff ready with advice on trips on your own and bus routes / taxis. Breakfasts were superb as was the evening buffet - at a very modest cost.

We are going on island escape to Brazil in November. Was wondering what the weather would be like, and this cruise has quite a number of days at sea.Would it be warm enough to sit out on deck?
