We travelled to New York in January this year in a Grill suite on the Queen Victoria and found no problems at all with food or beverage service in any restaurant or bar on board. The ship was fully booked so a good test of service.

In a Grill Suite! I'm sure you had no problems.

The curret Queen Victoria was ordered for Cunard (Carnival) almost as soon as Carnival re-allocated the part built 'older' Queen Victoria to become P & O's Arcadia. They improved many facilities and introduced many newer features, including the siting of the Grills Restaurants. Out f interest, on the Arcadia the Orchid Restaurant was originally intended to be a Grills Restaurant. I guess what you heard was hearsay.

I cruised on the Victoria, Christmas/New Year, and my hearsay (from a catering officer) was that the food preparation in the galley was minimal due to modern day packaging. Of course I should have chosen Queens Grill accomodation.

Hi, my 'hearsay' remark was targetted at the statement '...design turned down by two other major cruise lines'. You are absolutely correct in your remarks regarding minimal food preparation. As a retired hotel owner I am always keenly interested in the standards of food. The vast majority of all cruise ship food is brought on frozen having been pre-cooked and will be re-heated under steam. I accept this on cruise ships because I love cruising and the social life onboard, but would not tolerate it ashore. Sorry, you got me on my pet subject. Happy cruising.Richard.
