On embarkation wheelchair users are given priority and assistance if required. On disembarking, provided QM2 are aware you are a wheelchair user, assistance is given to your car or transport, but sometimes you can have quite a wait depending on the number of other wheelchair users aboard.
The staff onboard qm2 will give you every assistance possible embarking and disembarking, dont worry. try and be on deck for the sail in to new york, you have to be there about 4am but try to be there. enjoy yoursel.
We are 3 retired sisters 1 who is in a wheelchair would love a 7 day cruise no flying what cruise line do you recommend also we need to share a large cabin as the sister in the wheelchair needs hel.
In answer to your question, regarding useing a wheelchair, embarkation was very easy, but going ashore was another matter, we received no assistance going ashore. Where the gangway was stepped, I had to carry the wheelchair off, this is the FIRST and LAST time we will ever use CUNARD. Go on to P/O or PRINCESS, where they wont let you push a wheelchair down on your own, let alone carry one. Also going ahore in the tenders was no problem at all.
