Gratuities charged on board QEII are approx £6PP PER DAY in Caronia/Mauritania categories for the duration of your stay onboard this covers all tips except the casino.SO COME ON ! at this level of travel do you really have to think about saving a few bob ! You can always give a bit extra to your stateroom housemaid, they are worth it. I do believe the Pursers reception desk may be able to help you if you want to have the daily gratuities omitted from your final bill. BON VOYAGE

Having sailed on Cunard ships several times,to give you some idea, we give tips personally to our Stateroom Staff, also the wine waiter and particularly to the waiters who personally attend you, if all the service they personally give is satisfactory to you as we have always found to be the case. Unfortunately, you do get an amount worked out which is included on your final at end of cruise statement so much per day depending which stateroom you occupy so that all crew members have a share. We have never tried it but we do know a man who has who went to the Purser and said that he wanted to give tips to the people he felt had served him personally on the cruise and they deleted that amount off his bill. so.......you can try it at least!! All drinks have an automatic 15% added (like most ships). Unsure if you can opt-out of gratiities to cabin / restaurant staff etc, surely you must have been aware of cruise staff expectations before booking

Yes, there is no problem opting out of the official Cunard gratuities scheme. When you get on board all you have to do is go to the Pursers office and tell them you want to give gratuities directly to your cabin cleaner, waiters, etc., and they will record this on their system and not include this charge on your bill at the end of the cruise

Hi Mr/Mrs Young. I think your question has been answered by the other reviewers. Yours is a popular question, however other than the "...yes, you can and here's how to do it...." answer, I never see an explanation as to why the gratuities are put on your bill in the first place - so here it is : The first point to make is that people who work on a cruise ship have a very low basic wage and therefore rely on tips - the benefit to the traveller is that the staff are motivated to provide good service. The second point (which the conspiracy theorists love to believe) is that Cunard do not put gratuities on your account automatically so that they can keep a cut of it for themselves and not bother with the people whom it is supposed to go to! So, the main point for me is that other than your cabin steward & and your table staff in your restaurant there are many, many other people whom you do not see that make your trip a pleasant one - laundry workers, maintenance crews, cleaning staff etc., etc., These are the people who do not get any tips if you deduct them from your bill and simply pay the people that you see. In summary (and this is only my opinion) if you remove the gratuities from your bill, there will be many, many people who have worked extremely hard on your behalf who will go unrewarded for their work. Have a fantastic voyage
