Do you get much time in port on the British Isles cruise? We have booked for April 2012. Just come back from awful Canaries cruise where most of our time was at sea so are trying to decide whether to cancell or not.

Went on the abandoned cruise last year and have just rebooked for next year. The food varies between poor (breakfast) to ok for other meals. Remember it is a German ship & their take on English food is interesting & it would be better if the dining room staff had a better grasp of English. But all staff were helpful & the entertainments staff were superb.

Went on Marco Polo 4th July 2009. Having done several cruises with Thompsons was extremely disappointed. The food, on boarding, was dried up and unwelcoming. Long queues at all restaurants. Hot food served on cold plates. Cold food served on hot plates. Ship overcrowded so therefore not enough seating either on deck or in lounge areas. Gala dinner very ordinary and cold. No fresh vegetables; all chilled pre-prepared or frozen. On the Monday(6th) people going down like flies with a bug and no info given. Overcrowding then became even worse as only one restaurant open for limmited times so went without meals on several occassions as unable to stand for prolonged periods. After the cruise a refund was given but no apology for the wasted time or loss of holiday and no refund for the extra cost of getting home when cruise curtailed. No food or drink provided for journey home from 09.00 till 21.00 on Thu 9th July. From Lynette Mantle(Tewkesbury)

Yes and would highly recomend it. The ship was well looked after the staff were very attentive and whole ship had an air of opulance from the bygone days. I would reckomend this cruise to anyone.
