Find Your Cruise
We did this on Costa Classica and our flight was around 3 a.m. we were taken to the airport after dinner in the evening ...I think check in was around midnight if I remember rightly...I.m sure someone that has done this more recently can update you....but we did a trip during the day and I'm sure we could stay in the cabin until the afternoon.
We have just returned from a Costa Cruise[nov25th far east] we were allowed to keep cabins
untill 11am the ship sailed again at midnight from Hong kong ,you are allowed to use onboard facilities
untill the evening if you have a late flight, leaving hand luggage in the theatre, you can also do a last day tour ending at the airport.
I was on the Costa Victoria last year going round the Med We had to leave after breakfast and hang around Rome airport all day our flight was not until the evening I was not impressed
Like Littlewort below we cruised on the Costa Victoria in the Med last November. Whether this was the same cruise or not I am not sure but we also missed our scheduled flight due to Costa's incompetence. We spent 10 hours at Rome airport with no help or assistance by Costa Reps in any shape or form. After many letters of complaint during the next few months Costa refused to acknowledge any further correspondence although they were clearly at fault and could offer no worthwhile excuse. You have been warned.
We did last Christmas on Costa Romantica on the same itinery out of Dubai. My recollection was that we were able to use the ship's facilities all day and left the ship late afternoon for the evening flight back to the UK. Problems we had - dreadful queues to get into Dubai through passport control, and nearly as bad getting out. Don't expect it to be too Chrismassy - Christmas Eve was good, Christmas Day was a non-event, the Italians don't do Christmas like we do! The ship will be full of children - Italians do that on holiday. Mixed nationalities, very few Brits, although sometimes I think that's a benefit considering how some of the British behave in front foreigners. Expect a nasty shock when you get the final bill, in addition to usual tipping for you favourite crew they will add a non-discretionary charge for everyone else on board from the engine room upwards, and you can't get out of it - it is in the very small print. Overall we had a good cruise, the ship was clean and service and food excellent.
Did you go on any excursions? Which do you recommend? Also anyone who has been on Costa Victoria can you tell me if there is a way onto the ship which will be less difficult for my dad who has a walking stick and would find the normal steep gangway a bit of a chore?
