• Only past Costa cruiser would know that you can "supersize" your drink for only a few cents more (.50c). Definitely worth the money! Just ask your waiter to "XL" your drink, and you'll receive a pretty good value for only a few more cents... • The 2 wine packages offered were not for a choice of red/rose' or white. Costa offered two packages: "Classic" was $137.31US and "Special" was $149.96US." Each package includes 10 bottles of water, 1 Prosecco Champagne and 5 bottles of wine. The prices include the 15% service charge that Costa adds to all bar orders. The wine/water package offers both convenience and value. As to your inquiry if its drinkable, that depends on how big of a wine snob you are. All wine is drinkable. As to whether its to die for, everything is relative. You are paying about $16.50/bottle and with Costa's profit markup, these are probably about $10/bottle values. Last of all, you can order the wine/water package in advance or wait until your first day aboard. • Costa allows guests to swap the coupons for their choice of any of the wines offered in the package as these are all similiar priced wines. That is just like choosing ice cream, if it is a dollar a scoop, they don't care what flavor you choose. Although they would refuse to allow you to swap for a more expensive wine choice that was not offered as part of the package, they can and do allow guest to swap coupons for their choice among the offerings in the package • The 6 Special is a special priced deal offered by Costa where you can order 6 beers at once and they are brought to you iced-down in a little metal bucket/pail for (I believe it was) $20US. This offers savings over buying the beers 1 at a time. Another good choice is ordering a bottle of Martini & Rossi Asti Spumonte in the lounges while enjoying the music. It's also $20US and is served in its own tableside icebucket.

HAZELL - Answered a Question by Gordon (16 Jan 08 09:48)

We had the X1 package on Concordia in October and its brilliant value. It is not mentioned anywhere on Costa's website, you have to book and pay for it before you travel(can't buy it onboard) either with your travel agent or with Costa if you booked directly. In October it was £49pp for 7 nights but the price fluctuates with the euro exchange rate. It includes unlimited beer, wine, sodas and water at lunch and dinner times in the dining room and buffet. This also means you can get these drinks from the pool bar anytime when the buffet is open. Your cruise card is marked in the corner with X1 and you just show that although by the second day the staff remembered us and we didn't have to show anything. Our dining room waiters always had a fresh bottle of wine and water waiting for us and would just replace it when finished. I wish every cruise line did something like this. Without the X1 filtered water is available in a jug in the restaurant free of charge as normal.

Thanks hazell for your answer, but can you buy just one x1 and use it for both of you,(on the fly!!!) as we are not big drinkers outwith meal times, but we do drink a lot of water and fizzy juice.

Gordon,we both had the X1 but only my husband ever showed his card and he got drinks for both of us so you could probably get away with it. When we ordered a fizzy drink from the pool bar it came in cans so you could take it away with you too.
