I have sailed with Costa twice. On the Serena and the Concordia. The ships were spotlessly clean Cabins very roomy and the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in away from home. Staff excellent very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. food excellent . It is an Italian ship so there are a lot of Italians on board they don't like to queue and they do talk loudly over annoncements but thats Italians so just find it amusing we did. We found friendly Italians, Spanish,Germans, Americans and us Brits. SO go and enjoy yourselves I promise you will.

we were on classica in march to far east.a little bit woried after reading reviews but we had a great cruise with excellent itinery.we were in a basic inside cabin which was spacious and kept spotless.the crew was very polite and seen to your every need with no problem.we tipped the cabin steward, the two waiters in restuarant and the barman one dollar a day each which is nothing but it went a long way .they were there for your every whim.people moan about the compulsery gratuities but they should count this into the price of their cruise.we also had the drinks package which i would recommend as you get beer, wine, soft drinks and water at meal times.lunch is served from 12 till 3 and you can sit on deck and get your drinks free there and in the evening you can have wine by the bottle ,even to take out to bars with you.it we did not hear any complaints from anyone about the ship or the itinery it was only the price of drinks but you should expect this cruising.

We did a south china sea cruise on costa allegra. Could find find no fault with anything, apart from the on board bars being a bit pricey. The food was excellent, and the entertainment very good. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Sorry, but haven't been on Classica.

We have done two cruises with Costa one on the Classica and one on the Serena. We had a suite on Classica so can't comment on other cabins but it was kept clean and the bed was comfortable and we had plenty of room. It is not a new ship and was a bit tired in places. Prepare for the fact that all announcements are given in at least four languages and usually English was last, we also found that although the reception staff spoke the English language their comprehension was not that good. Food was OK but they don't appear to have many vegetables so make the most of what there is and forget your five a day!!!! We found both cruises to have very noisy passengers so you may like to take some ear plugs with you, we thought the entertainment was quite boring....magician/acrobat type things and Spanish dancers I remember. Not our cup of tea at all ..I know there is a language problem but surely singers and dancers can be international. We wouldn't cruise with Costa again but they seemed a good price (until you add the compulsory 'gratuities') and were doing itineraries that we wanted to do so we don't regret going. My advice would be to go with an open mind .....you should have a comfortable cabin and your meals will be provided for you and you are going to some interesting places. I do hope you enjoy it!

perhaps that is why they named one of their ships 'costa fortun(a) "

Why did you book it? Surly you read the reports and then book, sorry but I have no sympathy.

If I read every review on the differing good and bad points of every Ship I do not think I would never go cruising. I always go with an open mind.

The advertising blurb is superb for Costa so maybe the Fitzhugh's booked on the strength of that and have since discovered this site and others like it. Hindsight is a wonderful gift to have and I am one of the many yet to receive it. If you have to be negative, that's fine but be constructive, not destructive.
