Get a taxi. About 120 euro each way. Very few taxis in Civvitivechia. The journey is about one and a half hrs. The train station is a long way from the port. Good luck. S. Daley

You will LOVE the ship and the cruise!! We had a fantastic time. We got back last week. If you're stuck, type Rome Airport shuttle into Google. There's a taxi company that will pick you up in Rome and take you to the ship. We used them and they were v reliable. It is much cheaper than booking a taxi when in Rome.

You can pre order wine via the American Celeb website only, under the GIFT section. Only a few wine types are available. We ordered a Merlot [6 bottles] We paid in advance at £18 a bottle. You can drink it in the dining room. The same wine was $36 on the ship and had gratuities on it! So quite a saving. There was no problem on the ship in getting the wine but keep the receipt. Check paying gratuities in advance with your TA. This is usually much cheaper. We preferred the ship's tours as we found taxis v expensive from the dock area, if there are more than two of you then taxis will work out cheaper. Drinks on board are expensive, but then the pound has fallen so much that they would be. We loved the ship and loved the cruise. Have a great time.

If you have not got transfers included with your booking then maybe it would be a good idea to ring your agent and ask for two transfers on the Celebrity coach, it will cost but will save a lot of hassle. The temperature in July will be in the 90'Fs ( 32'C ish) and the distance to Civitaveccchia is about 40 miles and takes about 90 minutes. The alternative to that would be to go on the internet and arrange for a taxi to meet and take you and that will cost about €120. Hope this helps. .....Neil

Neil's advice, as ever, is good! I'm not sure how much Celebrity charge to shove you on their coach with everyone else (and bear in mind that if your flight arrives before the ones they've booked people on, they'll make you wait), but it's worth your while asking the cost and then comparing it with booking the private car (I recommend Zelit limos if you do), as it will meet you off your flight and whisk you straight off to the ship with no hanging about in the heat.
