I've been on Liberty sister ship to Freedom & some Dollars would be useful for the laundry & also room service if you use it (couple of dollars tip is customary). Can't help you with the transfers as we normally arrange our own. The journey is about 1 hour+. The decor on Carnival ships is brash, in your face, wacky, neon lights, they're on Skytravel quite often & plenty of pics on www.shipparade.com We found the food on Liberty a very good standard & would better a number of other 4* lines, in particular the specialty restaurant on Panorama deck. You didn't say which lines you've cruised with so I can't help you with a comparison, but then again I try to avoid comparisons & enjoy a cruise for what it is.

Hi Wilba, I think they are talking about Carnival's Freedom not RCIs and like them I have never used Carnival nor am I ever likely to ( sorry is my prejudicial side showing again). I can say that the transfer from Rome airport is about 70 to 90 minutes in time and is a longish walk, it can also be a little confusing at the airport bus rank but should be as smooth as silk for embarkation.... regards Neil.
