If this is going to be the only time you will use travel insurance for the next 12 months then insure yourself (and your family) for the holiday time only with European cover but do it now so that you are covered for cancellations etc. There are many brokers with whom to insure but one of the best priced and easiest to access is The Post Office. Should you be likely to take more than one break then look to see if it would be more economical to take out a years cover either European or Worldwide if you intend to go further afield. One thing that will cause complications is if you are of a "ripe" age then you will have to start looking at differing companies to get a good deal. Be aware that cruise brochure insurance deals are often high compared to many others. Good luck Neil Dow.

You should approach any insurance company offering travel cover and get a detailed quotation. For an 85-yr-old & 71-yr-old we have found M&S Insurance Services by far the best value - some companies don't deal with this age of oldies.
