Hi, at present the Island Escape is in Brazil, continuing its normal winter season for Brazilion passengers. It's first cruise for the UK market starts on 31st March 2009, so it is very unlikey that you will find any reviews. I don't know if Thomsons are intending to do any refurbishments but on the Thomsons website, ship details for the Island Escape, life onboard there is a link which says sneak preview, tt may be worth taking a look http://www.thomsonbeach.co.uk/th/cruise/updateShipAndSeasonCodeForShipDetails.do?shipCode=150006. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the information - I will certainly have a look at the web site suggested.
Sorry forgot to ask - do you know if toiletries are supplied on this ship please.
Hello again, I have not been on the Escape but have been on the Star several times, so I would imagine they were the same. Last time in the shower there was shampoo in a container, small sealed bars of basic soap and shower caps, so no nice little bottles of enticing toiletries. However, your cruise is under the Thomson branding, I have not been on a Thomsons cruise either (not very helpful but I have sailed on other ships! ) so I dont know I did quickly scan cruise answers for Thomsons Toiletries and a passenger had written in October there is full selection of small samples provided including a shower cap. Is this your 1st cruise? The Venetian Adventure Itinerary looks good, there are 3 ports of call on there including Venice I have never been to., some friends did this Itinerary on the Escape in 2007 and loved it. Please let us know how you get on or feel free to ask any further questions .
Thanks for the information - No its not our first cruise as we have been on Thomson Destiny, Fred Olsens Braemar and last November we went on Sea Princess to the Caribbean which was fantastic. We realise that this ship will not be as glamorous as Princess lines but as I said we chose it for the itinerary - especially as it is staying in Venice overnight and then going down the Dalmation coast which we have not done before. I just hope that Thomson bring it in line with their ships and offer a waiter served restaurant (without having to pay a supplement) as they have on all their other ships - I don't mind buffet service at all but its still nice to be waited on occasionally! We always read the reviews but still go with an open mind as we think that a holiday is, after all, what you make it - Many thanks Sandra.
Hope you enjoy your cruise Sandra we can but wait to see if Thomson make changes. They describe it as the most laid back cruise and their website says: Thomson and Island Cruises now offer a combined programme of friendly, relaxed holidays where outstanding service and great value come as standard...... Please let us know what you thought afterwards.
Yes I will certainly let you know how we got on.
