Going from NEWPORT TO SOUTHAMPTON WE NOW TAKE THE CAR. IT IS CERTAINLY VERY CONVENIENT IF WITH FREE PARKING AT THE PORT WE have travelled once by coach, but the trip is a little long and boring because the driver has to take regular stops Train is faster but you then have to get a taxi from the station to the dock.

You don't say which day you sail on but if it's a Sunday then avoid the train at all costs as you could be diverted all over the place due to track works. Imagine what would happen if the Severn tunnel was closed for maintenance! If you do plan to go by train then you can check for track works for about the next 3 months ahead on www.nationalrail.co.uk.
