P&O have regular round trip sailings to the Caribbean from Southampton, which take around 22days. In Jan/Feb 2010, they are doing two extended round trip cuises of around 35days on Oriana. Most cruise lines are increasing restrictions on smoking inside the ship.

GIBSON - Answered a Question by Simpson (15 Nov 08 18:14)

P & o or cunard if you are realy desperate, then i think fred olson does some celebrity have stoped all smoking even on your balcony just one place outside and one place inside. it may work for the american market, but i think smoking europeans will vote with their feet and opt for the more liberal aproach of european cruise lines. or you can do what i did i quit smoking 4 weeks ago !!!!!!!!!!!

Well done you, keep it up and join the majority of people. I am wondering if the questioner has a fear of flying or feels that if they fly it will be too long to go without a ciggie. Once more well done. .....Neil.

Yes you can reach the Caribbean without flying, check out the many websites that offer cruises. As for Smoking, hopefully not - all smokers should be exterminated, it's disgusting, unhealthy and anti-social. If you don't have the will-power to give up, what's the matter with you? If any are found they should chuck at least one a day over the side.

Spoken like a true ex-smoker. No regard for someone with an addiction. The cruise lines should take people with your negative atitude and throw 2 of you overboard twice a day. Please let me know what cruises you are taking so I can avoid any contact with you and not spoil my cruise. Live and let live Holmes. Wow it's people like you that create the terrorists of the world by not wanting to have any respect for fellow human beings and don't hand me balony about smokers infringing on your personal rights. Every one has rights and the sooner you learn about it, then the world will be a safer place to live and to cruise.

Thanks Mrs. Simpson, I am only trying to be fair about it all. If you are still looking for your dream Caribbean cruise try www.qualitycruises.org.uk or phone them on 0844 7709220. You will find a good selection of cruises from the budget 3 star to the luxurious 5 star and everything in between. I wish you well :) :) .

Sadly for smokers, the cruise lines are reacting to the (vast) majority wishes, and making smoking even less welcome. Our last cruise (MSC) was notable (in a small way) for the small huddles of smokers gathered in the occasional nook and cranny, causing that obnoxious fug they don't notice (no sense of smell left). Poor Mr Davies, unable to treat his admitted addiction - not sure why anti-smokers are 'terrorists' as it's smokers whose output will be giving other people cancers etc. I do however apologise for my flippant 'throw them overboard' comment; of course cruise lines are much more responsible now, and therefore won't want to increase the ocean's pollution.

Small ships are wanted!!

By Neil Holmes

P&O have announced that their small ship Adonia is to return to their 2017/2018 season. The ship was much loved by the P&O faithful and when she left the fleet to help with humanitarian work overseas there was a big hole to fill as many of the P&O fleet are larger ships and P&O were losing some of their passengers to cruise & Maritime and Fred Olsen. From June 2017 she will start Mediterranean, round Britain and even an Iceland sailing. The smaller more interesting ports w...

Five Of My Favourites !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Well its very nearly Christmas and all I wish for now is some snow! Walking the dog this morning everywhere was frosty and white, made me really feel in the festive spirit. One of the best things personally at this time of the year is the food and celebrations associated with Christmas and New Year, so this week I have decided to blog about 5 of my favourite places to eat. Some on cruise ships, some not.Fed Olsen Balmoral. I always enjoy the food on Fred`s ships and Balmoral last year was no...

Adonia makes a comeback

By Ruth Gale

Ruth Gale's blog

Great news from P&O that the very popular Adonia will be returning to their fleet next year. With ships getting bigger and bigger it is getting very difficult to find suitable cruises for the many people that still prefer the smaller more intimate ships like Adonia.Adonia previously left the fleet to operate Fathom cruises designed for voluntary tourism. Passengers were taken to destinations to help teach English or to help on building projects. It was a great idea but the ship was sadly m...
