Bow - front; aft - back; port - left hand side and starboard - right hand side...an easy way to remember which is port or starboard is that 'port' and 'left' are the short words and 'starboard' and 'right' are longer!!

Thanks Aldrich, Morris and Hepburn for your help I will remember that. we are looking forward to our Cruise on 5/12 hoping that we will enjoy the Ventura even though we have readn a lot of bad reviews, but looking at other ships reveiws they have some as well, I supppose not everyone can be happy and have to compare with other ships we dont have any to compare it to.

We have just returned from Ventura's maiden Transatlantic voyage to the Caribbean so if you have any questions I'm quite happy to answer them..

Hi Morris, Could you please tell us if we would have to pay for Balcony dining and how much will it cost? also can breakfast be delivered to our room? we will have a balcony but not in a mini suite. Yesterday on Cruise Critic said that Ventura is Butlins on sea is that true? as it has us worried thats the last thing we want. thanks for your help appreciate it.

We had continental breakfast delivered to our room on port days and there was no extra charge....I don't know if there is a charge for balcony dining....we were on C deck and had a huge balcony at least 9 feet square but only small upright chairs and a small coffee table! Never been to Butlins so don't know about that comment!!!! We didn't think they had got the entertainment quite right....too many comedians whose jokes were duplicated quite alot...only three musical shows over two weeks and a bit amateurish we felt (but we have been spoilt by the Thomson show teams who do 12 shows in two weeks!!) We were away at half term time so there were quite a few children who gathered in the pool areas but we felt it was quite easy to avoid this by using our balcony or the promenade deck which had reclining chairs. We had breakfast in the dining room on sea days (rather than the buffet) and dinner in the Bay Tree restaurant which was good. We were also a bit worried before we went that it would be noisy and crowded but during our total of 8 days at sea we could always find somewhere peaceful to sit outside or inside!! If you go with an open mind I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Thanks again Morris, It sounds as if Ventura is like Butlins on Sea where they have 2nd rate entertainment crude commedians and kids roam free doing their own thing. Still we will also have a balcony Cabin on C deck so it sounds good pity about the chairs though . if you click on the News button above you will see the news about ventura undergoing changes next spring .. just a pity its not done now befor we go as some of the changes could be done right away and getting rid of the commodore would be one of them as it sounds like he is useless with the amount of complaints on Cruise Critic about him ignoring bad behaviour. I will post a review when we get back from our cruise on 20/12. Thanks for your tips if entertainment is no good we can always relax on our balcony with a glass or 2 of wine.

Is there any PORT LEFT in the bottle? STARBOARD, Star bRIGHT, BOW forward, AFT after (Behind) back thats the easiest way I have heard Also if you want to know which way is "Front/Back of the ship when you are in a corridor, look at the room number, it slopes down at the BACK (Aft) and up at the Front (Bow). So you now know which way you are heading.... If your feet feel a bit wet, then you have gone a few steps to far Port/Starboard!!!!!!...A.
