Having been on both ships it s a shame if you can t go o star island cruises can t be beaten on friendliness and service but the destiny is a nice ship although cabins smaller entertainment good but set meal times in restaurant prices in bar much cheaper though so some compensation ! enjoy.

Destiny lovely ship. We were on it twice when it was original Sunbird belonging to Airtours. The two week cruise we were doing Thomsons took over the sunbird in the middle of the cruise and there was utter chaos, but just made the best of it. Island star is a great ship, we have been on her 4 times and the service was great along with food and entertainment, some of the ship does need reburbished, the cabins are far bigger than Destiny, more like double bedrooms with ensuite. will be sorry to see her go.Far superior to the island escape.

Sounds as though we will have a lovely time it seems that just the cabins are smaller but I am sure we will manage will miss the star as they have the friendliest staff that I have come across .

Fred Olsen and me! A match mad...

By Holly Crabtree

Holly Crabtree's blog

After recently returning form a 6 day adventure to the Fjords on Fred Olsen Balmoral it is easy to see why people have such affectionate things to say about them. Many of my colleagues feel the same way regarding Fred Olsen. It is just the feel of the ship when you embark it just feels like you are back home. Maybe this has something to do with the smaller ships so much more personal and so much more warmth than the larger ships.I sailed from Newcastle which was fab for me living in Leeds , o...
