Another vote for Celebrity here. Just pure class from your first glass of champers as you step aboard to the service and excellent food. I would say avoid deck 9 because of the overhang (I am a sunworshipper), and insider tip is that the best CCs on the ship are 6136/6144 and corresponding opposites!

There is no question in my mind.... Go for Constellation. The food, service and facilities are better than Ventura, With that budget you should be able to get "Concierge Class" which is worth the extra.Don't worry about the overhang because in the summer in the Caribbean you can do with a little shade and in the winter the sun is very often below it anyway. As it's you first cruise I would go for the full packeage, not "cruise only because you will get scheduled flights with Celebrity which are better than the chartered flights of P&O and transfers to and from the airport and hotel and docks, regards. ... Neil.

I must support Neil and Ida's comment. They have been on everything except Titanic and Lusitania. No, seriously; Celebrity Constellation will be a much better cruise experience for your budget. There have been a lot of negative comments about Ventura in her first season but Celebrity are known for going the extra mile. Enjoy.

This may help. Celebrity is a 5 Star line P&O is 4 Star line. That in itself tells you something about the standard to expect. If food quality is on your agenda, Celebrity everytime. First or second sitting is personal choice as all the shows are geared so that no one misses out. Ventura is a family orientated ship, Connie is not marketed as such, so a more adult experience is likely.

If you are from Ashington in the north east, you may be interested to know that P&O have a direct flight from Newcastle to Barbados for Ventura on 16 Jan 2009, which cuts out the hastle of getting there. On landing there, you get off the plane straight into a fleet of minibuses which take you direct to the ship. You dont touch the airport terminal or immigration. Try and avoid a US port as US immigration can take some time. First or second sitting depends whether you want to dine at 6:30 or 8:30.

Hi, Another vote for Celebrity, been with them 6 times and P&O only once. Planning on keeping it only once as well! There is no comparison on quality.

Does Your Cruise Loyalty Club ...

By Collette Apak

Collette Apak's blog

All cruise lines are keen to get customers back on board their ships once they have taken their first cruise. To help this they all have their individual loyalty schemes, most of which were in place many years before the likes of Tesco Clubcard points and the Boots Advantage card. Most loyalty tiers are measured on how many nights you’ve spent on board or the number of cruises taken. The benefits vary hugely between each cruise company. Some of the benefits for repeat customers include ...
