Aldrich - Answered a Question by Neil and Ida Down (20 Sep 08 19:20)

Perhaps I am putting too much faith in human nature but perhaps the Big Brothers of this site are blocking those simple answers that just say 'thanks'. I know from personal experience that they do block/prohibit/filter answers and I do find it incredible to think that approximately 80% of answers I (and others) provide get not a peep of recognition/acknowledgement. Blocking (or vetting) is obviously happening at the moment as there has not been a single new post of a question since lunchtime today, and then there will be a big influx of them a the same time. Mr Suspicious.

On the website we can not name suffered from the same issues that you have mentioned strange that the ultimate owners of both sites are the same company i have stopped posting on that site and if over zealous big brother cracks the whip to much on this site i will not use it anymore.

Just to correct you, the 'site that cannot be named' is owned by tripadvisor and ultimately by Expeida. This site is owned ultimately by Carnival. On the 'site that cannot be named' your post is visible immediately, and after over 5 years actively posting on that site I have only seen a very few, personally insulting or racist posts removed. So I am very happy with the limited amount of policing that 'the site that cannot be named' receives.

www.CRUISE.co.uk - replied to Aldrich (22 Sep 08 13:02)

Some Comments from www.CRUISE.co.uk. This site is NOT owned by /aligned to any cruise line. In Apr 07 the company www.CRUISE.co.uk was purchased by its management team FROM Carnival Corporation. The management believed that the site needed to be independent of all cruise lines so that we could publish such a wide range of opinions. All reviews/comments/questions/answers automatically go live to the site when posted UNLESS they contain certain "words/phrases". We generally do not allow individuals (especially those with fake details) to post website addresses on the site. This (hopefully) stops lots of travel agents and the PR agencies of the larger travel companies from using the site as an advertising platform. MOST Importantly we believe everyone should say Please and Thank you, and with that in mind we thank all of you for your contributions to the site.

I for one do not think that you are asking to much a simple thank you i find to me is reward enough.

Whittle - Answered a Question by Neil and Ida Down (19 Sep 08 17:35)

I was thinking the same thing myself a couple of weeks ago that very few people respond, say thank you or even report back that the information was useful. I have attempted to answer a few questions and only once received a response. When I needed to ask a question, I did the done thing, replied and thanked the respondant. I do not think it is asking too much to expect some form of response. I, for one, have learnt so much from the regular contributors - keep the answers coming and can I reiterate Browne's and Wilde's very big THANK YOU. Regards, Jean Whittle .

Richard Okill - Answered a Question by Neil and Ida Down (19 Sep 08 17:56)

Of course a 'thank you' should be in order and an additional nice touch. However, judging by some of the questions posted on this site, their content, spelling and grammar, I woudn't hold my breath Neil. Thank you. Richard.

Neil, thank you for this thread. I was believing that when ever I reply I was doing so into a void - as the acknowledgments, thanks, disagreements or even a grunt of acceptance of the facts were never forthcoming. I must admit that I am beginning to get very pee'd off with researching and providing quite detailed information and suggestions and my valued opinions, and was thinking I wouldn't bother any more.

Traditional or Freestyle ? Whi...

By Camilla Edwards

Carnival`s decision to introduce a new rule of traditional diners on their ships made me think of the whole subject of when, where and with whom do you choose to dine on your cruise. On board Carnival Glory and Carnival Conquest passengers who opt for first or second sitting traditional dining will be turned away from the restaurant if they are more than 30 minutes late for their selected seating. So that means be there on time , and probably queue to get on, or go to the buffet.Dining time s...

Coldplay & Cocktails

Zara Kelly's blog

Last week I enjoyed an extended weekend away to visit my family in Wales, mainly to celebrate my beautiful nieces 18th birthday. It was lovely as I had my own family with me for the weekend part, then I had some well needed pamper time with my sister (well a dip in her hot tub!) oh and yes it was my birthday also so went to see Coldplay in Cardiff.Cardiff did not disappoint, 41 years on from the hottest summer ever, it was bucketing rain all day! A bit like last year when I saw the Manics in...
