BLYTH - Answered a Question by Hughes (10 Sep 08 09:23)

The ship has an unusual set of funnels lokking like jet engines. We have done this cruise ending up though in San Francisco. We were unlucky with the weather as most of the journey was done in cloudy wet conditions, but then this is a rain forest area, but it was still spectacular to see the whole operation and the Millennium bridge as you proceeded along the canal. On a few occassions ships passed very close to us and you felt you could reach out and shake the hand of the crew on the other ship. At the Pacific end there is a very large viewing area and the day we went by it was packed with spectators waving and singing. The whole journey took around 10 hours before we ended up at the Pacific Ocean but worth seeing. You can view the Canal movements here at this website http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html.
