Wow - that's a great itinerary. Thank you very much indeed. What was the cruise liner you travelled on? Many thanks indeed for your comprehensive report. Congratulations on packing in such an active trip! Barbara.

Probably too late to help but, just in case…. We went on a two week cruise from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires then spent another two weeks overland up to Iguassu Falls and Rio before flying back from Sao Paulo. I suggest you do something similar if possible. Fly to Rio and spend a few days there. Fly to Iguassu, or take the bus which we did. We stayed on the Argentinean side in Puerto Iguassu as Foz seemed too big and we were glad we did. Make your way down to Buenos Aires and spend a few days there (see the sights, take the rain to Tigre, go across the river to Colonia....). Take a cruise from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso and, after a couple of days there and in Santiago, make your way north, perhaps via San Pedro de Atacama. 35 days might be pushing it, though. We wanted to do all of that but our month away wasn't enough to do the Peruvian leg or the Atacama. Maybe next time…..

The ship was forced to make an emergency stop at the New South Wales town of Eden so that six men and three tee...

Ok so you have been on five different ships from Southampton but a couple of those visit the same ports. It happens, there are only a certain amount of ports the ships can get into. However the shore excursions are always the same. Not any more.Princess Cruises will offer seven new shore excursions to guests sailing on Sapphire Princess, one of its Southampton based ships for this Spring and Summer. The new excursions are in addition to hundreds already on offer, which encompass a wide ran...

Kerry James's blog

So last week two cruiselines have announced they are going to be increasing their gratuities charge – P&O and Fred Olsen. P&O will be increasing from 6 per person per day to be 7 from the 23rd March for anyone over the age of 12, and Fred Olsen who will still remain one of the lowest from 4 per person per day to be 5 and they haven’t had an increase for many years. But is it not time though that the charge should be now just be included in the cost of the holiday?P&O i...
