Wow - that's a great itinerary. Thank you very much indeed. What was the cruise liner you travelled on? Many thanks indeed for your comprehensive report. Congratulations on packing in such an active trip! Barbara.
Probably too late to help but, just in case….
We went on a two week cruise from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires then spent another two weeks overland up to Iguassu Falls and Rio before flying back from Sao Paulo.
I suggest you do something similar if possible. Fly to Rio and spend a few days there. Fly to Iguassu, or take the bus which we did. We stayed on the Argentinean side in Puerto Iguassu as Foz seemed too big and we were glad we did. Make your way down to Buenos Aires and spend a few days there (see the sights, take the rain to Tigre, go across the river to Colonia....).
Take a cruise from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso and, after a couple of days there and in Santiago, make your way north, perhaps via San Pedro de Atacama. 35 days might be pushing it, though. We wanted to do all of that but our month away wasn't enough to do the Peruvian leg or the Atacama. Maybe next time…..
