2008 0r 2009? NCL and Princess sail to Hawaii regularly. NCL generally have 9-12 night sailings with flights usually to Honolulu. However, Princess have a 16 night voyage to Hawaii sailing from LA in Oct 2008. I haven't been with NCL but my boss at work has. He said he enjoyed it. I have sailed with Princess, though. Albeit in the Caribbean, not Hawaii! I would recommend Princess Cruises. We could do as much or as little as we wanted. They do provide an excellent shore excursion programme. Some people find it expensive, but it depends on how many excursions and which ones you choose. My partner and I went on 5 excursions with Princess in the Caribbean, including snorkel and swim with turtles, river tubing and visiting Hato Caves and our 14 night cruise bill was little under $400 (£200) - and that included drinks during the voyage, visits to the onboard shop and medical bills for an illness I got 4 days into my cruise (not contagious and nothing to do with Princess!) Whoever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time. Most large cruise firms will ensure you have a fabulous time, no matter who you choose to go with. Maybe one day my partner and I will sail to Hawaii (dream!!!).

Very good response from Holme to which I can only add that most of the cruiselines include in their brochures an Hawaii section so if you have used and liked a cruise line then you can probably use it again. I used Royal Caribbean and enjoyed it immensely. We both find LA to be a quite boring spot after the first splurge of sightseeing and opted for spending some extra time in Honolulu which we believe was a good decision as there is a lot to see and do there. Because American authorities have this thing about cruise ships having to leave the country, Hawaii is a US state, most cruises start not from LA but from one of the Mexican ports to go to Hawaii or they come back into Vancouver so you have to take that into consideration. I can't remember the ruling for this staging but someone will. Hope that helps. .... Neil.

Thanks Neil. Yes i will have to look into maybe going to Vancouver first as I have been there before and enjoyed it so maybe we could do a couple days there first. Mexico sounds good too, have you ever been there, thanks again for your response.
